Position: HR Manager
Location: Walker, MI

Duties :
- Foster a positive employee relations environment and support leaders on workplace matters
- Develop and update HR policies and introduce best practices across all HR functions
- Maintain a visible presence across remote offices and job sites
- Oversee HR compliance across multiple states, including FMLA, disability, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with Finance and brokers to administer competitive benefits programs and resolve employee issues
- Manage the performance management process and coach leaders on employee performance and corrective actions
- Lead talent management efforts including workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and succession planning
- Design and deliver employee development and leadership training programs
- Maintain accurate employee data and benefits in HR management systems
- Collaborate with Safety to promote a strong safety culture across field and office teams by resolving grievances and assisting with disciplinary action
- Support internal communications including newsletters, and company updates
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of one to two HR professionals
- Assist Accounting with payroll processing, as needed
- Manage union field manpower alongside project managers
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2+ years in a leadership role
- Experience supporting a multi-state workforce
- Union experience and/or M&A integration exposure preferred
Requirements:
- Superior interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Effectively communicate with any size group; verbally or written
- Intermediate or Advanced computer proficiency
- Good work ethic, which should include the desire to learn and efforts in continuous improvements
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
- High initiative and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
